Randy Carter, pastor of First Baptist Church of Hillsborough, grew up in Texas where most of his family still lives. He graduated from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, serving as a campus minister with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at San Francisco State University while in school. Following the completion of his M.Div., Randy and his family moved to North Carolina to attend Duke Divinity School. Just a few days after beginning work on his Th.M., Randy began pastoring in Granville County at Grassy Creek Baptist Church. Randy graduated from Duke in 2001 and two years later moved to Hillsborough to pastor First Baptist Church.

Randy is married to Rebecca and has three birth children (Wesley, 9, Jeremy 7, and Avery 5) and three foster children (Olivia 3, Justin 2, and Valerie 6 months). Randy and Rebecca are in the process of adopting Olivia and Justin.
